Time To Celebrate India’s 73rd Independence Day

It’s that time of the year when your patriotic feels are at an all-time high! But, this Independence Day is not just about dressing in white, orange and green, but celebrating it in the best and most fun way possible. Here are some of the most enjoyable activities that you can indulge in on this I-day with your friends and family!

Down the Memory Lane

How about taking a nostalgic trip this Independence Day? You could simply get together with your old school/college buddies and go attend the flag-hoisting session at your alma mater. You could even catch some breakfast post that at one of your old haunts, and talk over all your old pranks and memories while you feast on some yummy Dosa or Chole Bhature!

Bake The World A Better Place

If you are a baking enthusiast, then this 15th August, you can bake small treats like cookies with green, orange, white frosting or bite-sized cupcakes in the patriotic colors. Invite a bunch of near and dear ones for a treat at your place, or take boxes of your confections to the nearest orphanage or oldage home and help the less privileged ones have a fun celebration on this day!

Movie Marathon

You could even stay at home and enjoy the holiday by watching a series of the all-time favourite patriotic movies. We all know how Bollywood have had tons of directors who have showcased the struggles and efforts of freedom fighters, soldiers and the Indian Army, so this is definitely the day to appreciate it. Enjoy iconic movies like "Rang De Basanti", "Lagaan" and "Border" back to back, and don’t forget the popcorn!

It's the Little Things that Matter

While you are in the spirit of things, you can also carry out some small gestures which actually count. Offer time, money and supplies to military wives and widows associations. Support deployed military, check out such NGOs which work towards causes supporting the Indian Army and volunteer in any way that you can.

Of course, don’t forget to dress up in the patriotic colors to celebrate India’s 73rd Independence Day!  Women can go for white kurta & palazzos, paired with orange dupatta/stole and accents of green in the form of bangles or even bags. Men can sport an orange or green kurta with white pyjamas & a waistcoat. Go to Lifestyle, take your pick of clothes & accessories for the day and celebrate in style!
